1.Tomato and Yam Soup

3 Tomatoes

Half a root of Yam

A moderate amount of Salt



1 Wash and peel the yam. Then, cut them into small sections. Soak the tomatoes in hot water for ten minutes until the skin bursts open. After that, peel off the tomato skin and cut them into small pieces.


2 Without any cooking oil, pour the tomato cubes into the pot and stir-fry continuously over medium heat.


3 When the tomatoes are soft and out of the soup, add hot water and yam section. Boil them over high heat. After the soup boils, turn to medium heat and continue to boil until the yam is cooked.   Then, add salt and mix well and the soup is ready to be served.



2.Fried Fungus with Tomato and Egg



3 Tomatoes

3 Eggs

Half a bowl of Soaked Fungus

1 Spring Onion

About 3g of Salt



1 Crack the eggs into a bowl and add a spoonful of water. Then, stir well.


2 Place the tomatoes in hot water and bring them to a boil. After that, tear off the skins and cut them into small pieces.


3 Heat the oil in the pot and add in half of the chopped green onion into the pot.


4 Pour in the egg mixture and fry until it becomes completely solid.


5 Add in the other half of the chopped green onion in the pot and fry them until fragrant.


6 Pour in tomatoes and stir fry until they become soft. Then, add fungus and fried eggs.


7 Mix well and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes before adding some salt. Mix well and the dish is ready to be served..




3.Grilled Vermicelli with Tomato and Prawns



480g of Prawns

2 Tomatoes 

Cellophane Noodles 

4 slices of Ginger

Half a head of Garlic 

1 tablespoon of Salt



1 Wash and remove unwanted part of the prawns.


2 Blanch the tomatoes in boiling water for a few minutes. Next, peel the skin off, then and cut them into pieces. Next, cut the ginger and garlic into slices.


3 Heat up some oil in a pot. When the oil boils, add the ginger and garlic slices in and fry until the aroma becomes fragrant. Next, add the tomatoes.


4 Stir-fry the tomatoes  slowly over medium heat until their juice start to flow out.


5 Then, pour two bowls of water and salt, mix well and bring to a boil.


6 Add the prawns. Then, cover pot with a lid and leave it to simmer for 5 minutes until they are cooked. 


7 Finally, add the dried vermicelli and leave it to simmer in the soup for about two minutes.



4.Roasted Yellow Croaker with Tomato


1 large Yellow Croaker

3 Tomatoes



2 slices of Ginger

1 small piece of Spring Onion 

3 cloves of garlic 

1 large can of Beer 

half a spoon of Salt



1 Wash the large yellow croaker; Peel and cut the tomato into pieces.


2 Heat up some oil in a pan and fry the yellow croaker until the whole fish is thoroughly cooked. Take the fish out and set it aside for later.


3 Add the spring onion, ginger and garlic into the same pot. Reuse the oil to saute until they become fragrant.


4 Add the tomato cubes in and stir fry well until the tomato juice flows out.


5 Pour a large can of beer with salt. Next, add the fried yellow croaker back into the pan and switch the flame down to medium. Leave the dish to simmer until the sauce thickens. The dish is now ready to be served.



5.Stir-fried Shrimp in Tomato Sauce



3 Tomatoes

240 g of Shrimps

2 Chives

2 slices of Ginger

3 spoons of Cooking Wine

1 teaspoon of Salt



1 Firstly, blanch the tomatoes in boiling water  until they are cooked. Then, peel off the skin and cut them into pieces. Next, marinate the shrimps with the cooking wine for a while.


2 Heat up some oil in a pan. Then, use it to fry the chopped green onion and ginger until they become fragrant.


3 Pour the tomato cubes in and stir fry until they turn soft.


4 Add in the shrimps and stir fry over high flames.


5 When all the shrimps curl up and the tomato soup thickens, add salt and mix well. The dish is now ready to be served.
